Each sweet and savory shrimp is of course wrapped in crisp and succulent bacon, but everything is then brushed in a sweet, sticky, and spicy sauce for added flavor! Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon
- 5 tablespoons maple syrup
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- 16 extra-large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails optionally removed
- 1 tablespoon parsley, optional, chopped, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 -Line a sheet pan with foil.
Step 3 -Spray the foil-lined sheet pan with cooking spray.
Step 4 -Lay the bacon slices out in a single layer on the prepared sheet pan.
Step 5 -Bake until the bacon is partially cooked, about 8-10 minutes.
Step 6 -Allow the bacon to cool for 5 minutes.
Step 7 -Cut each slice of the bacon in half crosswise.
Step 8 -In a medium bowl, add the maple syrup, the soy sauce, the chili powder, the salt, and the black pepper and whisk to combine into a marinade.
Step 9 -Reserve 2 tablespoons of the marinade.
Step 10 -Add the shrimp to the bowl with the remaining marinade and toss lightly to coat.
Step 11 -Cover the bowl and chill the shrimp in the marinade for at least 10 minutes and up to 8 hours.
Step 12 -Preheat the oven to the broil setting on high.
Step 13 -Coat a clean sheet pan with cooking spray.
Step 14 -Wrap 1 piece of the bacon around each of the shrimp, securing each bacon piece with a toothpick.
Step 15 -Place the bacon-wrapped shrimp on the prepared sheet pan and broil until the shrimp reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F and the bacon is crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 16 -Flip the bacon-wrapped shrimp and broil them until evenly browned on all sides, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 17 -Transfer the shrimp from the oven.
Step 18 -Brush the bacon-wrapped shrimp with the reserved marinade.
Step 19 -Serve the bacon-wrapped shrimp sprinkled with the parsley.
