Ingredients
- For the cake:
- 1 (13.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix
- 1 (3.4-ounce) box vanilla pudding
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup water
- For the frosting:
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 (8-ounce) block cream cheese, room temperature
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 banana, sliced into coins
- 1/2 cup Nilla wafers, crushed
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Coat a 10-inch Bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 3 -In a large bowl, add the cake mix, the pudding mix, the eggs, 1/2 cup of the melted butter, and the water and whisk to combine.
Step 4 -Pour the cake batter into the prepared Bundt pan and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
Step 5 -Place the Bundt pan on a wire rack and let the cake cool, about 10 minutes.
Step 6 -Run a knife around the edges of the cake, then invert it onto the wire rack. Let it cool completely.
Step 7 -In a large bowl, add the heavy cream and beat with an electric hand mixer until stiff peaks form.
Step 8 -In another large bowl, add the cream cheese and the remaining softened butter and beat until no lumps remain.
Step 9 -Add the confectioners' sugar to the cream cheese-butter mixture and beat until it is smooth.
Step 10 -Add the vanilla extract to the frosting and beat to combine.
Step 11 -Fold the whipped heavy cream into the frosting until it is just combined.
Step 12 -Cut the cake in half horizontally.
Step 13 -Place the bottom half of the cake on a serving plate and spread 1/2 of the frosting over the inside of the bottom cake layer.
Step 14 -Add 1/2 of the banana slices and 1/2 of the crushed wafers in a single layer over the frosting.
Step 15 -Place the top half of the cake over the banana-wafer layer and spread the remaining frosting on top.
Step 16 -Add the remaining banana slices and the remaining crushed wafers in a single layer over the frosting.
Step 17 -Slice and serve.
