Ingredients

  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips, plus more, to taste, for garnish
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pint strawberry ice cream
  • 4 cups water
  • whipped cream, to taste, for topping

Directions

Step 1 -Set the microwave to 50% power.

Step 2 -In a medium microwave-safe bowl, add 1 cup of the chocolate chips and microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until they have melted. Do not overcook.

Step 3 -Stir the melted chocolate until it is smooth.

Step 4 -Dip the tops of four mugs into the melted chocolate and let them set until the chocolate has hardened.

Step 5 -In a large sauce pan over medium-high heat, add the butter, the sugar, and the ice cream and cook until it has melted.

Step 6 -Add the water, 1 cup at a time, to the sugar mixture and whisk until the desired texture and flavor are reached; heat just until steaming.

Step 7 -Serve the cocoa topped with the whipped cream and the extra chocolate chips.
