Ingredients

  • flour, to taste, for dusting
  • 1 (16.5-ounce) roll refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box red velvet cake mix
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • powdered sugar, to taste, for topping

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Spray an 8-inch square pan with baking spray (use a baking spray with flour).

Step 3 -Using the flour, lightly dust your fingers, then break the cookie dough into crumbles and place in the prepared pan, pressing the crumbles evenly into the bottom to form a crust.

Step 4 -Bake the cookie crust for 15 minutes.

Step 5 -Transfer the cookie crust from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.

Step 6 -In a medium bowl, beat the cake mix, the melted butter, and the eggs with a whisk until well-combined.

Step 7 -Spread the cake batter evenly over the cookie crust.

Step 8 -Return the pan to the oven and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.

Step 9 -Transfer the pan from the oven and allow it to cool completely, about 45 minutes.

Step 10 -Cut the cake into bars and dust them with the powdered sugar.

Step 11 -Serve.
